World Mental Health Day 2025
Today (October 10) is World Mental Health Day, this year’s theme is ‘access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’.
This campaign from Mental Health Foundation is especially relevant in our home city of Manchester right now. With the recent attack on a Manchester synagogue we are seeing very real examples of how our mental health is impacted by world events. The feeling of overwhelm can be difficult to deal with, especially for those using social media a lot.
At Cookson First Aid, our mission is to save lives and we know that increasingly, that can start with a conversation. We have trained over 1,100 people in mental health awareness funded by Oliver Cookson Foundation since we launched this course in May 2024 (and here is our throw back launch video) and it is more important than ever to access support for yourself, friends or family is needed.
Mental Health Foundation has provided some excellent resources on how to deal with feelings of overwhelm and how to protect your mental health when global events and relentless bad news becomes too much. Please share this with anyone you feel might be struggling.
